IMDB rating: 8.80 Plot: In a distant galaxy eons before the creation of the mythical planet known as Earth, vast civilizations have evolved, and ruling the galaxy is an interstellar Empire created from the ruins of an Old Republic that held sway for generations. It is a time of civil war, as solar systems have broken away from the Empire and are waging a war of rebellion. During a recent battle techical schematics for a gigantic space station, code named The Death Star, have been unearthed by Rebel spies, and a young woman who is a dissident member of the Imperial Senate, under the cover of a diplomatic mission to the planet Alderaan, is trying to smuggle these plans to the Rebellion. But her spacecraft is attacked by a vast warship of the Empire and seized. The dissident Senator is captured, but the plans for the Death Star are nowhere to be found. While soldiers of the Empire search the nearby planet Tatooine, a series of incidents sweeps up a young desert farmer with dreams of being a fighter pilot in the Rebellion, as he winds up with the Death Star plans and also the assistance of an elderly hermit who once served as a warrior of an ancient order whose chosen weapons were powerful energy swords known as light sabers. The pair recruit a cynical interstellar smuggler and his outsized alien copilot with an ancient freighter heavily modified for combat to help them reach Alderaan – but the planet is obliterated and now the foursome must rescue the young woman held prisoner by the Empire and lead an attack by the Rebellion against the Death Star before it can annihilate all hope of restoring freedom to the galaxy. |

What is the New Hope in Star Wars Episode IV?
In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope what is the new hope: Luke Skywalker or the Empire’s stolen plans for the Rebel alliance contained in R2-D2? And in the episode VI, is it return of the Jedi (Luke) ?
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope:
At the end of Episode III you see the Clone Troopers turning on and killing their Jedi Generals, and Darth Vader and the Emperor continued the hunt and destruction of the entire Jedi Order. To the knowledge of the Emperor and Vader Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are the only two Jedi that remain unaccounted for. When Luke resolves to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like his father, he becomes the New Hope. For as the son of Anakin Skywalker, Luke inherited a powerful connection to the Force, and became the only champion the Jedi could produce to confront the Sith with both Obi-Wan and Yoda aging fast.
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi:
After the Great Jedi Purge spearheaded by Vader and the Emperor wiped out what remained of the Jedi Order, only Yoda and Obi-Wan were unaccounted for. Obi-Wan was killed on the first Death Star which left only one Jedi. Yoda. When Yoda passed on Dagobah he told Luke "when gone am i the last of the Jedi will you be…" , yet Yoda also said the Luke would not become a Jedi until he defeated Darth Vader. So with the passing of Yoda the Jedi were indeed extinct for a short period of time. Luke defeated his father, Vader, on the Second Death Star and officially became a Jedi, when his father was redeemed, and died shortly thereafter, the Old Jedi Order was finally dead, and Luke was the only remaining Jedi having just achieved knighthood. This left the storyline open for the expanded universe novels who continue the story and tell just how Luke helped the Jedi truly return.

the new hope is luke skywalker
and the return of the jedi is luck because he is the last jedi left to defete the sith lord…ahahha i just watched these movies a couple weeks ago on mtv

A New Hope: Luke Skywalker because all the jedi are destroyed accept Yoda or Kenobi, but they are too old. And Skywalker has Jedi abilities like his Father.
Return of the Jedi: Luke Skywalker, because he has mastered the jedi way annd the force so he can defeat the Imperial Empire.

In episode IV, the New Hope is definitely Luke Skywalker. Episode VI is called "Return of the Jedi" because right after the movie in the expanded universe, the Jedi start to reform when Luke starts teaching.
